“This quilt may be drawing reference to education. Using the cloth as a type of blackboard. Elementary, grade school. Marks not unlike those created when you’re daydreaming, or detached from the present. One form of education ending with another’s beginning. Within that transition the past and present compensate for each other—almost filling in holes that the other one left empty or could not realize. A type of mangled education where the transition never fully materialized.”
